Extreme Architecture #6
A work of the Danish architectural company 3xN, “Bella Sky Hotel” has become a landmark in Copenhagen, Denmark. Located between the old city center and “Orestad” (Copenhagen’s growth center), the building is an extension of the “Bella Center”, and gives the area a fresh urban identity.Consisting of two asymmetrical towers, the hotel’s form looks different from different view points. The structure tapers down to a slim set of footprints and inclines in opposite directions. As a result, all 814 rooms obtain an unobstructed view of the flat landscape.
Serving as a visual landmark on the site, the towers are distinguished by a dynamic and graphic skin of white triangular panels. Even from a great distance, the slightly pixelating effect can be seen clearly. The lobby merges into the existing entrance of the “Bella Center”, resulting in an exciting street view of the hotel.
