In light of the recent tragedy that occurred -- a mass shooting at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises in a Colorado movie theater -- many wondered how it would affect the opening weekend of one of the biggest movies of the year.

Well it appears it didn't affect it much as Dark Knight is No. 1 at the box office this weekend. The movie, which stars Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway as cat woman, earned over $160 million. It had an estimated budget of $250 million.

However due to the sensitivity of the CO. shooting, the movie studio behind the movie, Warner Bros., is choosing to wait until Monday to release the final numbers. Warner Bros. also canceled the Paris premiere of the film. We will update this story once the final box office numbers are in.

Ice Age 4 comes in No. 2 with about $20 million, while The Amazing Spider-Man will reportedly finished in third place with $11 million in ticket sales.
