In a recent EU/Russia Summit speech, unelected full-time President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy referenced the agenda for global governance, also called the new world order, which many leaders and high prominent figures have done over the years.

Van Rompuy said, "By working together, the EU and Russia can make a decisive contribution to global governance ... to global economic governance in the G8 and the G20."

This isn't the first time Van Rompuy expressed his desire for global governance. He wasted no time, speaking at a press conference after being elected EU President in 2009, he said, "2009 is also the first year of global governance with the establishment of the G20 in the middle of the financial crisis. The climate conference in Copenhagen, is another step towards the global management of our planet."
