Iron Man 3 director, Shane Black, says Tony Stark will return. In The Avengers 2...that is. We caught up with the director at the LA premiere of Iron Man 3, and here's exactly what he said about the future of Tony Stark Ok, so Shane Black did just say "next Iron Man," right? So that leads us to believe that there is a future, allbeit a hazy one, but a future of sorts that is awaiting the superhero franchise, but it doesn't sound like its something were going to see for quite some time. But Gwyneth Paltro, on the contrary, said that Iron Man is done. She spoke to Geek Nation and said... and apparently with all sincerity, quote "I don't think there's going to be [an Iron Man 4]. I think we're done with Iron Man."
