Quick Tip

Michele from San Diego CA writes:

I have another question regarding desktop pictures. I receive emails with Microsoft PowerPoint slide show attachments containing pictures I want to use for desktop backgrounds on my PC. How can I capture pictures separately from PowerPoint?

Michele, it's pretty easy. Just select the object you want with your cursor:

Right-click on the image and choose Save as Picture from the drop-down menu.

Then select the file format in which you wish to save the image.

Then select Save. Hope this helps.

YOU ASKED, WE LISTENED!

Everyone Loves the 16 GB Instant Backup Flash Drives...

BUT YOU WANTED MORE!

SO HOW ABOUT A 64 GB ONE?!

HUGE Storage - FREE Backup Software - Video Guide

AND EVERYTHING COMES PRE-LOADED!

THIS IS THE DEAL OF THE CENTURY, FOLKS!

Don't Lose ALL Your Files In a Hard Drive Crash!

If You Think Backups Are Hard... YOU NEED THESE!

They Do Backups Or Just Work Like Normal Flash Drives!

No Hard Drive Lives Forever...

Hard drives are sensitive, complex mechanical devices. Most modern hard drives can hit over 7200 RPMs!

But it's not without a cost: No matter HOW hard you try, 100% of hard drives will eventually crash.

AND THAT ALMOST ALWAYS SPELLS DISASTER!

What do you do when your hard drive crashes?

Well, there are only two outcomes...

1. If you don't back up your data:

It's gone. Throw your hard drive in the trash and start fresh... because you are NOT recovering that data. A dead hard drive is just that. It's game over.

2. If you DO back up your data:

You take your handy little Super Talent backup flash drive, plug it into any working computer or laptop, and press "restore." IT'S JUST ONE CLICK!

You don't lose a single file, and you don't spend the weekend "wishing you had printed those vacation photos that you'll never get back."

Which one would you prefer?

There's only ONE reason not to back up data: it USED to be hard. It took a lot of time, it took expensive hardware or software, and it took some tech-savvy. You had to know file extensions, directories, the whole works.

NOT ANYMORE! IT JUST GOT AS EASY AS ONE SINGLE CLICK!

The Super Talent Instant Backup Flash Drive!

NO software. NO set up. NO time consuming steps. All you do is plug it in and click "backup"!

Could it BE any easier?

Oh yeah, it could. Because for the first time ever, we've got these in TWO storage sizes: 16 GB or the MASSIVE 64 GB!

16 GB is more than enough to backup all of your important files. But that 64 GB drive?

You could potentially backup your ENTIRE hard drive with that.

Think about THAT! Most people that want to do entire hard drive backups have to pay over $100 for an external hard drive. Those are big, bulky.... and a HUGE waste of money!

All you need is this easy flash drive!

The first time you pop it in, it just asks you what directories you want to backup. After that, every new backup is just a click away.

What's great is that it keeps ALL of your directories and folders right in the order you have them on your PC. So you'll know EXACTLY where to find them on the flash drive or after you back them up to another PC!

AND USING IT IS AS EASY AS A CLICK! LOOK!

Think about everything you have on your computer: TONS of photos. ALL of your favorite music. Family videos and contact information.

How about work documents, important files, sensitive documents. Even your passwords, e-mails, favorite web pages... EVERYTHING!

After a crash, you can't get those photos back. The videos are now distant memories. And your passwords? Good luck remembering the ones you haven't had to type in for years.

BUT IF IT'S BACKED UP, YOU WON'T LOSE ANYTHING! PERIOD!

And with backing up this easy, you won't even have to think about it!

This DEFINES User Friendly!

We tested it out, just check out the video:

Ultra Sleek, Ultra Secure, ULTRA FAST!

It looks, feels, and acts just like your standard flash drive (of course, standard flash drives can't hold a candle to this one) so you know it's gonna be easy and lightweight to move or store.

Plus, when you aren't using it, you can flip the drive around to protect the connector! YES!

IT WORKS JUST LIKE A REGULAR FLASH DRIVE TOO!

That's right - Just drag and drop files to it and use it like any other flashdrive! Talk about the best of both worlds!!

Take it anywhere! Back up any PC or laptop! Use it for EVERYTHING!

And if you're looking for fast, this thing is gonna BLOW YOU AWAY!

This is a Super Talent high-speed USB 2.0 drive.

We're talkin' up to 480Mbps of PURE SPEED!

Last but not least: IT'S SECURE!

When you back up anything on this drive, you can choose to encrypt it and guard it with a password of your choice! Nobody but you or those you trust get access to YOUR files.

So all your tax, financial, and confidential documents? You can back them up too without worrying! FINALLY!

It's not just passwords, either. It's full-power encryption!

All those passwords on your PC don't mean a thing if you don't have SECURE backups.

But with the included backup software, it's not a problem.

A 64-GB Backup Drive For UNDER $45! WOW!

Most people need external hard drives for their backups. And those are bulky, heavy ones that you really can't move or store! THAT'S BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THESE FLASH DRIVES!

I use these at the office to store ALL our documents, videos, and images. They're SO freakin' fast and these 64 GB ones are HUUUUUGE!

You will NOT find a faster, more convenient backup drive out there for just $44.97 with FREE US SHIPPING anywhere else!

And if you don't need that MASSIVE size? No big deal! Just get the 16 GB drives for only $18.97! They're still one of the best deals under the sun, and are more than enough to backup all your important data!

These are simply one of the coolest devices I've ever seen. PLEASE don't miss out on this deal. We only have so many and once they're gone... that's it.

Natalie from Florida writes: You recently wrote about adjusting Line Spacing in Word 2007. Can you also write about Adjusting Line Spacing for Word 2010 as I could not use the instructions that were for Word 2007. Thank you very much.

It seems that the more features they add to Word, the more difficult it becomes to do simple tasks like line spacing. Here's out to find the necessary settings in World 2010. Make sure you've clicked the Home Tab at the top of the page.

Among the many options, you should see the little icon below, some lines with arrows pointing up and down just above the word Paragraph. Click that icon.

You will get a drop-down menu where you can choose your line spacing.

This is also where you can adjust settings like whether you'd like an automatic space added if you hit Enter or Return while typing.

For more advanced settings, click Line spacing options. You'll pull up the Paragraph window which allows you to adjust indents, spacing and line and page breaks.

Hope that helps.

On The Move

he Newest Way To Watch TV: Aereo

If you watch the news, you may have recently heard of a court case where the major networks sued a small up-and-coming web based video service called Aereo… and lost.

The reason that they lost is because Aereo, unlike a lot of other web based video services, is perfectly legal. Here's how it works.

Aereo (www.aereo.com) basically uses a digital antenna about the size of a dime to receive digital over-the-air broadcasts.

By hooking these antennae up to web servers, they are able to stream the content, basically live TV over the internet to your computer. The channels currently offered by Aereo are...

Kenneth from NY writes:

Is there a way to change the icon of the new shortcut you pinned to the task bar?

Unpinning a Shortcut

The taskbar makes it simple to quickly bring up any program you need to use frequently, but if you are going to always be seeing the entries on your taskbar you may want to change their icons to something more pleasing to the eye. For whatever reason, the ability to change icons for any program or folder pinned to the taskbar has never been built into the Windows operating system. But like most problems experienced with Windows, there's a workaround available to bypass the issue. In this case the problem is incredibly easy to overcome, as you only need to unpin the program, change the icon through the desktop, and then re-pin it to the taskbar.

Windows 7 only allows you to change icon files if you are currently logged into the operating system with an administrator account. If you run into an error message while trying to change the icon, navigate to the "Shut Down" option in the "Start" menu and click "Switch User" to switch over to an administrator account.

Today's Feature

I Always Wanted To Know:

What is a laser?

Answer:

Lasers are a key component in everything from supermarket price scanners, DVD players, high speed fiber optic cables and advanced military weapons, but what is a laser? How does it work? The answer may surprise you. A laser, (which stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), is at its most fundamental level, just focused light.

Laser light is different from normal light due to its characteristic focused, intense beam and specific color (or wavelength in technical terms). The light is created, in basic terms, by pumping energy into atoms causing them to emit photons of light. These photons of light are then bounced between mirrors in the laser's assembly, which causes more photons to be created amplifying the light beam. What makes this process special is that the new photons created share the shame wavelength, phase and polarization which gives lasers their unique characteristics.

All of this may be quite interesting but why is laser light useful?

The waterfall you see in the photo is the final plunge for Chapel Creek before it empties into Lake Superior. It always makes an interesting cut through the sand – but – you just never quite know what path it'll take. Most of the time, it likes to wind off to the right, but a gale force weather event pushed the sand back in, making the new cut anybody's guess. Even with that wildcard in mind, I decided...(More)

Wave Running Willet

This Willet was captured on Sanibel Island FL one morning as I strolled along the beach with my big glass. (Nothing like a big lens on a beach to get people wondering what you're up to.)

Mobius By Moonlight

I'd like to say this was a planned shot. I tend to take pride in my ability to "forecast" a cool image and then setup to be at the perfect spot at just the right moment. Well, not this time! I was actually arriving early at Mobius Arch in Alabama Hills to take an altogether different view of this arch when the setting moon dancing with the early colors of sunrise caught my eye. I quickly maneuvered around until... (More)
