DEADLINES

Am sitting in my perch that overlooks Decatur and Frenchmen, watching the crowds start to gather for a Wednesday evening. It's going on 9 p.m., and we're working hard on getting the French Quarter Fest issue to the printer, so most of the staff is still here working (great little team we have at OffBeat. They are the best!).

So lovely and gracious readers, there will be no Mojo Mouth this week. My lips are sealed--at least this week.

OFFBEAT NEEDS HELP

We're looking for editorial interns.
If you are articulate, a good writer, good on the phone, detail-oriented, can do some market research and are dependable, we need your help. OffBeat is revamping its databases of artists, clubs and archives and we need your help as we launch our new website later this year. You can make a real difference in our magazine, and you will also get an opportunity--if you work hard--to help shape our print and online editions of OffBeat. To apply, please send me a personal email with a cover letter telling me how you think you can contribute to our mission (important), with a resume outlining your work experience. Please put in the subject line (important, or it may not get a response): "OffBeat Intern. " Send it here and good luck!

ROXIE WATSON PREPARES FOR DEBUT ALBUM
Roxie Watson.
Roxie Watson is a five-piece string band that blends gorgeous vocal harmonies and stellar songs. The group formed in 2007 as a just-for-kicks opportunity for long-time friends Beth Wheeler "BWhee," Lenny Lasater, Linda Bolley,
Sonia Tetlow and Beck Shaw.

Tetlow says, "I guess the main thing about this band is that it didn't start out trying to be a band; it was just some friends sitting around and making music for fun."

Composer and writer Paul Sanchez tells you more about the band here.

The CD release show is at Chickie Wah Wah on March 22. CDs will be available at the Louisiana Music Factory.
