For all installations (e.g., Turbo tax), I need administrator password.. But, I do not have administrator password nor could I get it. Eldon, I'm afraid there is no way to install applications without administrator permission. If the administrator account on the computer you are using belongs to someone else, then you can either ask them to install the applications for you or better yet, give your account administrative permissions so that you can install them yourself. Check out this article to learn how to add Admin permissions to your computer. ~Joyce Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version
Steve here, and I have a warning for you. I did a little research and... Roughly 170,000 hard drives die each and every day. Or let the software do it automatically. Once you do your initial backup, this allows you to only backup files that have been changed or added. This will make your backup sessions MUCH faster since the software doesn't have to recopy all the files that it has already backed up each time. Pretty sweet. You are gonna LOVE this! Have you ever made changes to a file and only later - after you've saved it - realize your mistake? That's a sick feeling isn't it? As long as the drive is plugged in, it's working in the background watching for new and changed files. When it sees one, it backs it up AUTOMATICALLY. No silly manual backups or schedules - just do your thing, let the flash drive backup your data. And that's not all! Heck you can even make multiple backup jobs! You'll find it's organized just like your computer was before the crash, making it almost too easy to restore you files! Of course, you can also use this as a regular high speed USB 2.0 flash drive too. In fact, since you're backing up your files with it, the files you want to transport are probably already on it! No worries - you can choose to encrypt and password protect your data! Feel free to store all your confidential information on it - from tax records to legal documents - it's all safe and secure when you enable encryption! Oh - almost forgot! I wanted to mention it's tiny little size - about the size of your thumbnail. You'll love not having some big honking' stick hanging out of your computer! http://store.worldstart.com/product/9293
10 Smart Photoshop Tips: Part 2 You don't have to master Photoshop in order to know how to edit your photos and make them look better. I selected some basic tips and techniques for you, which you can easily apply to your photos and make them more vibrant, appealing and beautiful! In part 1 of this article, we covered blur & overlay, monochrome, image sharpening, photo filters and vibrance. In part 2 we'll go over 5 more tips to make your photos better in a flash. 6. Spot Healing Brush Tool This is an amazing tool for editing portrait photos. This is how you can make any skin imprefections disappear in just seconds! Select the Spot Healing Brush tool and adjust its size. Alt-click on the reference area and then click on the spot you want to heal. 7. Dodge Tool This is a great tool you can easily use for whitening teeth, eyes and other areas. Just select the Dodge tool from the sidebar and use it as you would normally use a brush. You can adjust its size and its exposure from the bar above. 8. Burn Tool This is the opposite of the Dodge tool. If you want to darken a spot or an area, this is the easiest tool you can use. Select the Burn tool from the same place you selected the Dodge tool. Adjust its size and darken the areas you want. I usually use this to darken the corners of a photo to make it look more dramatic. Make sure you don't overdo it! 9. Selective Color Tool This is a great tool you can use if you want to change colors (like I did in this tutorial: 3 Ways to Easily Change Colors in Photoshop) or to enhance existing colors in your photos. I use this a lot when editing landscape photos. You can make the green look greener and the sky even more vibrant and beautiful. Select Image > Adjustments > Selective Color. Now select the color you want to change and drag the sliders. For example, select Greens and increase the Yellow, Black and Cyan colors. You can do the same with other colors too. 10. Crop Tool This may be one of the most important tools. You can easily use this by hitting "C" on your keyboard. Crop the images, but keep in mind that you should maintain their proportions as much as you can. Hope you'll apply these smart and easy Photoshop tips and make your photos look better! ~Ruxandra Micu Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Jenna asks: Help! When I try to install a program or make changes to my computer it says that I don't have administrator permissions. I am the only user of this computer, it's mine. How do I get permission to do things to my own computer? I'm using Windows 7. If you are the owner and only user of your computer, it sounds like there may be an issue with your security settings. CreativeLive CreateLive is an awesome site that offers free classes taught live from instructors around the world. I'm really excited to share this class site with you! I'm always looking for ways to improve my skills. Right now I'm really interested in getting a pattern design and hand-dyed yarn business off the ground so I was hunting for a site that offered classes in design because I have a great idea for a yarn label, but I need extra skills to make it real. I was also looking for a class that helps explain how to get started with online businesses as a maker. The result of my search is this (although I might go back to Skillshare for the product label design class there). The first thing you should do is check out the calendar of what is coming up, because these classes are live you'll need to see the schedule to know what is being offered and when. At some point you'll get a pop up that wants you to sign in or create an account. You can easily create an account with F-connect for Facebook. Or you can choose to do the sign up with your e-mail address this will require you filling out a form with a working e-mail address and creating a password for the site. I chose to F-connect. You can also close out of the pop up and keep browsing the site and then use the blue Sign Up button to create an account later. An account allows to RSVP for live classes. For example, I RSVP'd for the Start a Handmade Business class that is being offered June 2nd through the 4th. So what kinds of classes can you take? They offer classes in the following categories: Photo & Video, Art & Design, Music & Audio, Craft & Maker, and Money & Life. I hope you'll take advantage of these awesome offerings of free classes! I can't wait to start mine in June! ~Amanda Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly versionDo you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?Send it to Amanda at amanda@worldstart.com
