Akash (Rajesh Khanna) is employed at Bombay Municipal Corporation as a clerk. He is an honest and educated man who is loyal to his principles much like his elder brother. He lives with his brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew. Akash's principles and honesty becomes a liability to his colleagues and corrupt superiors. One day they plot against him and dismiss him from the job. When Akash attempts to assert himself legally, he finds that there is corruption everywhere. In retaliation, even his brother is implicated in a crime, and arrested. Akash is left with no mention but to find a way out to clear him and his brother and also to expose the corrupt wrong doers.
