When the sample for this came into the warehouse, it seemed so light and small, I wondered how it could protect hands from high heat. But let me tell you, IT WORKS. We tested it ourselves in the WorldStart Test Kitchens, which are located in the kitchen of my house. Let me tell you, I put this thing through the paces. First of all, I fired up the oven to a blazing 500 DEGREES and put a cast-iron Dutch oven in there. Nothing holds heat like cast iron and in no time that pot was smokin' hot. I even tested it with an instant-read thermometer to make sure it was 500 degrees. I slipped on the mitt, touched the handles, lifted the lid and I didn't feel a thing. AMAZING! I usually don't like oven gloves, because they're big and bulky and, for me, make it harder to get a firm hold on pot handles and lids. I usually go with towel for the control, but they aren't that effective against heat and I've got the scars on my hands to prove it. And I may or may not have set one or two of them on fire.
The slim design of this glove slides over your fingers for complete protection, but still gives you total flexibility. I was skeptical that something this lightweight could really protect my fingers, but IT WORKED PERFECTLY. I didn't feel a thing. It's also great for stirring. Nobody likes grabbing a hot spoon, but have you ever tried to stir with a bulky oven glove? I even tested it out by flipping a steak using only my hands. The surface that touches the pot is specially ridged for a firm grip. Great control and my fingers didn't feel a thing! Best of all, this is completely washable. I was making kind of sticky pan sauce last night and got a little on the glove. It rinsed right off under the tap. A towel or a cloth oven mitt would have required a round in the washer. You can even put these right in the dishwasher. It's so CONVENIENT! It also worked perfectly for picking up a cookie sheet from the oven. I will warn you, that if you have any heavy pots or cookie sheets, it's best to buy two of them. But for only $4.97 , why not? You'll probably want to get four in case you have a helper in the kitchen. Everybody who works here wants at least two for their kitchen, but they'll have to wait to see if there are any left over, because I'm giving you first crack at this special deal for a limited time only. Click the link below to put one (or more) in your cart for only $4.97! http://store.worldstart.com/product/9807 Get yours now before we run out or the price goes back to $6.97 !
Anna writes: I just got a new computer and it is horror of all horrors, an 8.1. I did buy your DVD, so first, thank you for that big help!!!! I lost my outlook express and cannot find out, how to get it back. I hate going to webmail and signing in every time I want to read and or send my emails. Is there any way, I can get my outlook express back??? Anna, you can't get Outlook Express back, but you do still have a great free mail app with Windows 8.1 that performs the same tasks as Outlook Express. If you're in the Metro screen with the tiles, just start typing Mail or open the search charm and type Mail. Then click on the Mail icon.
Once in mail, swipe from the right or move your mouse pointer to the upper-right corner to see the charms bar, then choose settings.
Then select accounts
Click or tap on Add an account.
You'll see options for adding popular services like Gmail, AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft Exchange.
Choose one of those options and you'll need to put in your username and password for that account. Or you can choose Other account to add something like a Verizon or Comcast e-mail address. First you'll choose whether or not you want an EAS or IMAP account (you'll probably want IMAP, unless you're fetching e-mail from a Microsoft Exchange Server at work.)
Next, you'll need to add your e-mail address and password along with information about the mail server for your provider. If you aren't sure what the server information is, you can call customer service for you ISP or look on their website.
Then connect and you'll have an e-mail client similar to Outlook Express for reading and sending messages. ~ Cynthia Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Ask it here!
Inventors Turn Old Monitors Into Touch Screens One of the downsides of rapidly developing technology is that perfectly good pieces of equipment can get tossed on the junk heap. That leads to a lot of waste and electronic waste can be especially dangerous because of the chemicals found in the electronic components. Some young inventors are taking "waste not, want not" to heart and launching a crowd-funding campaign through IndieGoGo for their project called the Zmartframe. Their plan is to give old flat screen monitors new life as touch screen devices and even to turn them into functioning big-screen Android tablets by adding a frame.
According to their website, the frame just needs to be plugged in to your old Windows computer and calibrated. Then you'll have multi-touch capability.
If all goes to plan, Zmartframe will have Android embedded into the frame. The frame can then function as an Android device. Users could switch between modes, enjoying a PC and an Android device on the same equipment. Want more? Head on over to WorldStart!
Bob from Stockton writes: I have installed, uninstalled, and re-installed MS Office 2007 about 10 times, and have also tried the repair mode. Excel, Access, and PowerPoint open and work fine. But every time I try to open MS Word, or click open a Word file, it wants to configure Word again. After a very long process, several minutes later, Word opens and works fine. How can I get it configured permanently? One possibility is that you have multiple versions of Office installed on the computer. Open the Start Menu and select control panel.
In control panel choose Uninstall a Program beneath Programs.
You'll see a list of programs to choose from.
Scroll down to see if you have multiple versions of Office or Word installed. Just click WorldStart for the rest of this helpful tip!
Give Your Charity A Boost With Blogging For charities and non-profit organizations, having a blog where they can share stories about the work they do, the people they help and the events they host is a no-brainer. People need a simple online destination where they can not only access information about your organization, but where they can also interact with, and donate to, the cause. The following five tips can help ensure your blog is as donation-friendly as possible, while inspiring readers to give.
1. WordingIt might seem a little counter-intuitive, but non-profit organizations wanting to use their blog as a way to increase donations should probably avoid the word "donate" all together. As Donor Community notes, the word "support," along with the name of the charity or organization, tends to boost donation rates by as much as 16 percent per page view. 2. SpecificsAnother effective way to use your blog to increase donations is to let readers know exactly how and where their money will be used. For example, their donation will buy a child two new pairs of shoes, pay for 10 hot lunches or provide six shelter animals with warm blankets. Donors like to know exactly how their hard-earned money is being used, and how they can specifically make a difference in a person or pet's life. Go to WorldStart for more! Well you're going to create your own virtual squid and release it into the virtual sea! If you want you can name your squid now. Step Two is where you'll build your squid. You'll select eyes, fins, mantle, head, arms, and tentacles for it from the the menu, as well as what color they'll be! You can either click whichever body part you want to work on, or use the next bodypart and previous bodypart buttons. Now you can play with your squid by using the mouse to drag it across the screen. Finished? Well you can always come back and see what adventures your squid has been up to while you're away. Show of hands, who LOVES being attacked by insects every time they walk outside? Nobody? I figured as much! Mosquitoes, flies, gnats, anything! They're all over the place and they are just waiting to buzz in your face or chomp on your skin! You've tried EVERYTHING to keep 'em away! Instead of trying to avoid them or scare 'em off - how about you put a stop to them FOR GOOD!
This bug zapping racket is way more effective! When you pop batteries in this bad boy and hold down the activation button, it's not only going to let you give insects a whack, it's gonna ZAP 'em dead immediately! It really works! I've been using one of these for YEARS and it's always been my go-to for solving annoying insect problems. It doesn't matter how soft you hit with it, the zap does all the work!
And the best part? It's TOTALLY SAFE! For one: you have to be holding the button for the racket to have any power to it! If that button isn't pressed, it's just a plain old racket! If you accidentally touch the top, nothing will happen! And two: even with the button pressed, it has a safety "mesh" on both sides! You'd have to be really trying to touch the electric part of the racket! But bugs? They're so small they go right through and always get zapped! So feel free to let anyone use this bad boy (and honestly, once you've seen it, nobody can resist trying it out!)
And honestly? It's just fun! Like I said, once you give this thing a try, it's impossible to put back down! You'll have a house completely free of bugs in a night because you'll be chasing them down! Bottom line: You have fun, the bugs don't. What's not to love? And these come in at a WICKED deal: Only $6.97! Compare that to a bottle of bug spray that costs the same, but runs out after a weekend! Grab one quick - these are ALWAYS popular! http://store.worldstart.com/product/9804 If you wait until Tuesday you'll miss the sale and have to pay $9.97 to get one of these!
