Shawn from Minnesota writes: I play Words With Friends on my tablet and every single time I make a move an ad pops up. I have to watch at least a few seconds of it before I can get back to the game. How can I get rid of these pop-ups?
There's one solution, Shawn. You can pay for the full version of Words With Friends. It will cost you $4.99, but you will be spared those commercials. Otherwise, those ads are just the price you pay for your "free" app. ~ Cynthia Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version

The Best-Kept Secret Of Windows Most of us have had the frustrating experience of trying to explain some kind of problem with our computer to someone over the phone. It's often hard to relate what the problem really is in words unless you know a whole lot about computers. There's a simple solution that's already available on your Windows 7 and 8 computer. It's called Problem Steps Recorder and it could be the best-kept secret of Windows. Here's how to use it: In Windows 7, type psr in the search box in your start menu. Then click the icon for Problems Steps Recorder.
In Windows 8, type Steps Recorder in the search charm and click the icon.
The problem steps recorder will open. It's just a little bar that at the top of your screen. Click or tap the record button and then go through the process that's causing you an issue on your computer. The recorder will capture all of it.
When you're finished, press Stop record.
A window will open giving you the option to name the file and save the recording as a ZIP file.
Once you save the file, you can click on it to open in your browser.
What you'll see is a detailed report featuring screenshots of every action you took and the results.
Plus a full log of what was going on while this happened.
You can easily e-mail this report to tech support (or the editor of your favorite newsletter) to show step-by-step what the problem is. Just attach the file to an e-mail.
This feature can make it much easier for you to explain an issue and for tech support to understand what's really going on. ~ Cynthia Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Ask it here!
Is Your ISP Sharing Your Router With The Public? If Comcast is your Internet provider, they could be using your router as a hotspot for public WiFi for your neighborhood. It's all part of a plan to create WiFi access points for customers of Xfinity Internet.
These hotspots enable relatives, friends and other Comcast customers you don't know at all to log on to high-speed Internet connections without using your data plan. The way it works is that Comcast's Wireless Gateway router broadcasts two WiFi signals. One is secure and only for the home user, the second is the neighborhood xfinitiwifi network that can be shared with any other Xfinity Internet subscribers who log in with their own usernames and passwords. This is part of a plan to offer their customers fore than 150,000 indoor and outdoor WiFi hotspots in major cities in addition to the home-based neighborhood hotspot program. The company says it has over 1 million hotspots that users can find by... Want more? Head on over to WorldStart!
Denis from Columbus, GA writes: "I need help! How do you delete unused names out of Gmail? Years ago I helped a friend with a mailing list. And now I have all of these names stored on my Gmail account, that I can't remove. Is their any way that I can get some help on this? I know that when my phone is used thru Bluetooth all of these names appear. I don't need this on my phone. I plan to purchase a new phone and don't want the additional names loaded to the phone. Thank you." Hi, Denis. Thanks for the great question. Actually, removing contacts from your Gmail address book is a fairly simple task. First off, switch from your Inbox to your Contact list. In the current version of Gmail you do this by click on the drop-down arrow next to the word GMAIL on the left sidewalk of your screen.
After you switch to your contact list, you'll see checkboxes next to each name... Just click WorldStart for the rest of this tip!
Android Text Message Security Warning Security firm Adaptivemobile is warning Android users about a text message worm that could cost you money. A new malware called Selfmite can subscribe your phone to premium service that you don't want. Here's how it works. You'll get a message with containing a URL like this Dear [NAME], Look the Self-time, http://goo.gl/****** Users who click on that link will be directed to a site that allows you to install an app. An icon with the name self-timer will appear on your menu. If a user opens that app, the malware will get into your contact and sent a message to 20 different contacts. It steals the contact's name to use as the greeting, which can make a message like this seem legitimate.
The malware will also open up a URL in your web browser that offers to let you download a file called Mobogenie. Mobogenie is a legitimate app... Want more? Check out WorldStart! For stories, jokes, quotes and cartoons every day, sign up for our Just for Grins newsletter.
Inside Out Inside Out is one of the coolest things, in my opinion, to come out of TED. French Photographer, JR, won the TED Prize in 2011 and then called out for the creation of a global participatory art project! This site is all about that project, Inside Out. When you arrive at the site, you'll land at the splash page where different Inside Out projects are highlighted, and you'll find the navigation menu at the bottom of the page with the following categories: Inside Out, News, Explore, Participate, Best Of, Photobooths, The Movie, Videos, and About. I'd highly recommend starting with either the About page where you can learn about the project, it's inspiration, and it's implementation; or you can head right over the Best Of and check out these amazing art projects from around the globe. Want to create your own Inside Out project? Then you need to head to the Participate section where you can learn how to setup your own group. The Photobooth section will tell you where you can go get your photo taken in the style of this project to take home to your own project. And you can visit the website dedicated to that Photobooth. Check out these global exhibits of Inside Out today! http://www.insideoutproject.net/en ~Amanda Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?Send it to Amanda at amanda@worldstart.com
When the sample for this came into the warehouse, it seemed so light and small, I wondered how it could protect hands from high heat. But let me tell you, IT WORKS. We tested it ourselves in the WorldStart Test Kitchens, which are located in the kitchen of my house. Let me tell you, I put this thing through the paces. First of all, I fired up the oven to a blazing 500 DEGREES and put a cast-iron Dutch oven in there. Nothing holds heat like cast iron and in no time that pot was smokin' hot. I even tested it with an instant-read thermometer to make sure it was 500 degrees. I slipped on the mitt, touched the handles, lifted the lid and I didn't feel a thing. AMAZING! I usually don't like oven gloves, because they're big and bulky and, for me, make it harder to get a firm hold on pot handles and lids. I usually go with towel for the control, but they aren't that effective against heat and I've got the scars on my hands to prove it. And I may or may not have set one or two of them on fire.
The slim design of this glove slides over your fingers for complete protection, but still gives you total flexibility. I was skeptical that something this lightweight could really protect my fingers, but IT WORKED PERFECTLY. I didn't feel a thing. It's also great for stirring. Nobody likes grabbing a hot spoon, but have you ever tried to stir with a bulky oven glove? I even tested it out by flipping a steak using only my hands. The surface that touches the pot is specially ridged for a firm grip. Great control and my fingers didn't feel a thing! Best of all, this is completely washable. I was making kind of sticky pan sauce last night and got a little on the glove. It rinsed right off under the tap. A towel or a cloth oven mitt would have required a round in the washer. You can even put these right in the dishwasher. It's so CONVENIENT! It also worked perfectly for picking up a cookie sheet from the oven. I will warn you, that if you have any heavy pots or cookie sheets, it's best to buy two of them. But for only $4.97 , why not? You'll probably want to get four in case you have a helper in the kitchen. Everybody who works here wants at least two for their kitchen, but they'll have to wait to see if there are any left over, because I'm giving you first crack at this special deal for a limited time only. Click the link below to put one (or more) in your cart for only $4.97! http://store.worldstart.com/product/9807 Get yours now before we run out or the price goes back to $6.97 !
