This Week on MetalSucks...

We know, we know -- you're over it with the Ice Bucket Challenge already. But seeing Jason Becker -- a once supremely talented metal guitarist robbed of his ability by ALS -- take the challenge himself was pretty inspiring, especially considering the disease has left him completely unable to talk. And seeing his nominee, John Mayer, take the challenge after playing a Jason Becker tune on guitar was pretty neat, too, as un-metal as that may sound.

In new music streams this week, we're really digging the new Code Orange album, a pummeling new Obituary song, a new one from Christopher Amott's Armageddon and exclusive premieres of a brand new Rigor Mortis track and a crushing Nero di Marte jam. New music videos from The Contortionist and Killer be Killed are tickling our fancy, too.

Vinnie Paul: "Music Hasn't Supported Me Since 2000"

In case there was any doubt that being a metal musician isn't a great career choice if you enjoy making money, Vinnie Paul drove that point home in a recent interview. Even with income from Pantera royalties and merch and from Hellyeah, Paul revealed he relies on income from the stripclubs and other businesses he owns to make a good living. Go to college, kids!

Shadows Fall are Throwing in the Towel

It's been a good 15-year run, but the members of Shadows Fall have decided to take a break from "extensive touring" as they start families and pursue other endeavors. They left open the possibility of a few spot gigs here and there, but for the most part it seems like they're done... until they reunite, of course.

Varg Vikernes Uses Papyrus Font, Doesn't Own an Amplifier

Not only does Burzum onlyman Varg Vikernes hate the Jews, blacks and gays but he also hates good taste: he used the infamous Papyrus font in a recent series of self-published playthrough videos. Even more bizarrely, he doesn't even own an amplifier, so he was forced to use a table to amplify his electric guitar instead. Yes, a table.
