Canada, Ottawa is in shock after a second terror attack as a single gunman opened fire at the Canadian War Memorial, then taking to Parliament where he was shot and killed by the head of security on Parliament Hill, Sgt at Arms Kevin Vickers.
Corporal Nathan Cirillo,a 24-year-old member of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders was shot and killed at the war memorial.
The gunman has been identified as 32 year old Michael Zehaf- Bibeau, who was on the Canadian terror watch list after reportedly fighting in Libya.
The question which arises is "how did an armed gunman get into the Parliament?"
At one point in the intrusion the gunman was only meters from the Canadian Prime Minister.
Security expert Clive Williams makes the point that unless the individual is wearing some type of tracking device, to physically monitor one person for twenty four hours, takes eight people per day. This comes as the Islamic State has threatened violent retaliations for the Canadian participation in the Coalition war against terror in the middle east. The Islamic State has urged "lone wolf" attacks against Governments of Coalition Countries.
These attacks are low tech with low numbers of casualties but which have a high impact from a public relations view.
Security aspects of all Government Offices has increased as further attacks could be imminent.
