Quick Tip

Sharon asks:

I use Facebook in a browser on my phone. I don't understand why, if you can easily use it in a browser, you would need the App?

Sharon, that's an interesting point. You certainly can use it in the browser, and Facebook would work pretty much as normal. But some things would not. Anything that requires Flash, for example, is not supported in an Android browser. If it requires Flash to run, most developers have created an App to make it work. This is why Candy Crush and Farmville won't work in a browser, but can still be played on a phone or tablet by using the App.

So do you HAVE to use the App version? No, but keep in mind that not all features will work in a browser version. The App version is specifically designed and enhanced to work on your device, so that is why they are so popular.

I saw the FUNNIEST thing yesterday...

My friend just got back from a vacation, and wanted to show off his pictures!

So we get over to his house and... he starts looking for his digital camera's USB cord so he could plug it into his computer!

What?! People still do that?

Well, after about 10 minutes of him looking for the cable and apologzing, I remembered I had one of THESE bad boys in my car:

I grabbed it, popped it in one of his USB ports, and we were ready to go.

There's NO reason to torture yourself plugging in those big, bulky devices just to read the memory card!

The reason those memory cards come out is so they can be used like this!

Card readers are DESIGNED to access your data quickly! Ever notice when you plug in your camera or MP3 player it tries to open the software that came with the device?

You don't need to edit photos, you just want to look at 'em!

When you open those files up with a card reader, it just goes RIGHT to them!

Quick, easy, done.

So whatever you got, chances are it works in here!

Oh - and the best part?

I'm practically giving these things out! This deal will go down in history as one of the easiest decisions ever made on the planet.

Grab one for just $6.97!

Dairy Queen Hacked - Customers See Fake Charges

Some Dairy Queen and Orange Julius customers found strange charges showing up on their debit and credit cards after the Backoff malware found its way onto the company's computer systems and stole bank information including account numbers, names and expiration dates.

One Indiana customer told me that someone charged a pair of $500 sneakers to her account, but the bank figured that out and called her right away. Then someone else charged $490 at Walmart.com and a 5-day hold was put on her bank account with neither Walmart or the bank able to do anything until the charge cleared. Though, Walmart did refund the purchase after the 5-day period.

According to a statement from parent company International Dairy Queen, Inc. – each of the franchises are independently owned and operated and not every restaurant was affected. But nearly 500 restaurants in 46 states were hit in August of 2014. You can click here for a full list of the store that were compromised.

The company says the malware has been contained in their system and no longer poses a threat to customers. The company is also offering identity repair service to affected customers from AllClear Secure. Customers can learn more about those services by calling 1-855-865-4456.

Dairy Queen also asked that any customers that notice fraudulent activity report it to the police, the FTC and their state attorney general. It's always a good idea to monitor your bank statement for any unusual credit card activity.

Dairy Queen joins JP Morgan Chase Bank, Home Depot, Target, Niemen Marcus, PF Chang and several large universities as victims of information stealing malware attacks.

It's always a good idea to monitor your bank statement for any unusual credit card activity. But it's not a bad idea to limit your exposure by paying cash for small purchases such as lunch. Also don't be afraid to ask any retailer where you do business, what types of security protection they have in place for their point-of-service system. A great many many still be running systems that use Windows XP despite the end of security support.

How do you change the default font in Word 2007 to another default font?

If you're anything like me, then you love being able to speed up those tasks that take a lot of time because of the little things you need to change.

With this in mind, this tip will show you how to change the default font in Word 2007 – meaning that you won't ever have to change the font to your personal favorite when opening a new document ever again.

Simply open a new word document. If you're already in Word, click the Microsoft Office Button at the top left of the screen, go to the New Document pane, click new and then blank document.

Click Font in the Font group and choose the Font and point size that you want the default to be.

Now click...

Add Custom Autocorrect Entries To Word 2013

You know how Word will autocorrect your misspellings of things like "teh" instead of "the"? Did you know you can add words that you commonly misspell or mistype to that list? And it's pretty simple.

Now, my screenshots are taken from Word 2013 in Office 365, however, it will be similar in Word 2010 or even 2007. To begin, we need to open the Word menu and options section. In Word 2013, I just hit the File menu. If that doesn't work, you can just hit the Office button.

At the bottom, you'll see the Options menu. Once you open it, you want to click on Proofing on the left side. Then click on...

Halloween Cards

With 75 different cards to choose from you're sure to find a Halloween card to share with your friends and family at JibJab. It's been a long time since I've thought about this e-card site! I'll be honest it completely dropped off my radar. But my sister sent me a zombie themed Halloween card that I thought was cute, so I decided I'd remind all of you about JibJab too!

JibJab offers really cool cards where you insert photos of yourself, friends, family, or even pets in order to personalize the card. I'm bringing you directly to the Halloween video cards, but you can make them for many holidays and events.

To get started, browse the selection of cards. There will be nine displayed to begin with and you can click the purple Show Next button to load more cards. Once you've found one you'd like to see, click the Preview Video banner on the card. It will then play the video card, if you like it and want to use it, click the Personalize button.

To personalize the card you'll add photos, you can watch a great tutorial on how to add pictures to cast your video with here. It walks you through the personalization process step by step. Then you'll add your message or greeting to the card, and share it.

In order to save and share your card, you'll need to have an account. You can sign up with your e-mail address or F-connect with Facebook. I chose to F-connect with Facebook because it lets me access the pictures I've shared on Facebook for quicker personalization.

I hope you'll enjoy these fun cards! I know I did!

Autumn Magic At Bond Falls

You know, I'm starting to really like Bond Falls. It's located – more or less – in the north central area of Michigan's UP, and let me tell ya – I've been there twice and pulled out a good shot each time! The first time was of the main falls, this time I went for the upper falls. In fact, back when I took the main falls I just -…(More)

Fall Cascades In The Smokies

Sometimes the good shots aren't where you think they are. It was autumn in the Smoky Mountains. If you've never been there in the fall, you can be forgiven for thinking it's a quiet, peaceful time of year when the tourists have flown home and you have the place to yourself. Nope, it's a zoo. I think fall is actually getting as busy as – or even busier than - ...(More)

Black Bear Stare Down

It was "Bear Week" in Yellowstone fall of 2007! Seems like everywhere I went, I ended up takin' snaps of bears. This guy was by far my favorite though. He was walking below the ridge line and we...(More)
