UPCOMING ARTS EVENT LSE Chill Dates: Friday 28 November 2014 Time: 6-8pm Venue: Café 54, New Academic Building Join LSE Arts for the first Chill at its new venue.   LSE Chill offers staff, students and alumni an opportunity to perform in front of a friendly and 'chilled' crowd. With a limited number of free drinks and nibbles, it's the perfect way to start the weekend.   Performances will include music from Anthropology Department band, The Funktionalists, guitarist Dave D'Auria and songwriter Alanna Hoffman.   If you're interested in performing in next year's sessions, please email arts@lse.ac.uk or check the website for more details. UPCOMING ARTS EXHIBITION Art as a Social Document Date: Monday 1 December 2014  - Friday 23 January 2015 Time: 10am-8pm, Mon-Fri  Venue: Atrium Gallery, Old Building This show presents a selection of work by the British photographer Mark Neville. The artist's socially engaged practice builds a natural bridge to the academic debates on the issues of inequality, class, race, and conflict.   This exhibition is open to all, no ticket required. Visitors are welcome during weekdays (Monday - Friday) between 10am and 8pm (excluding bank holidays, when the school is closed, at Christmas and Easter, or unless otherwise stated on the web listing). ARTS COMPETITION Photo Prize 2015 Submissions open: Monday 1 December 2014 - Wednesday 28 January 2015 Exhibition: Monday 23 - Saturday 28 February 2015 Photo Prize is back for it's eighth year!   LSE Photo Prize 2015 will run alongside the Literary Festival and submission entries will be on the theme of 'Foundations'.   For information about how to submit or for any other queries, please see the FAQ page or email arts.photoprize@lse.ac.uk.    Photo credits to 2014 winner Daniel Salvetti. LSE ARTS INSTALLATION Final Sale Date: Monday 24 November 2014 (for around 3 months) Venue: Above the entrance of the Old Building, Houghton Street The entrance to the Old Building has taken on a new style of late, with the installation of a new piece of public art, called Final Sale.   This temporary installation is the creation of Recycle Group –made up of the award winning Russian artists Andrey Blokhin and Georgy Kuznetsov - who "explore the realm of 'virtual reality' using both recycled imagery and materials." The piece was loaned to the School free of charge by the Gazelli Art House, as part of its on-going commitment to art education.
