Quick Tip

Android Special Characters Shortcuts

Need a special character on your Android phone or tablet keyboard? Maybe an é or a symbol? It couldn't be simpler to find. Just press and hold the letter that needs the accent mark, tilde or other special character. Your options will appear and you can choose what you need by just tapping it.

It's also useful when you need to use a symbol associated with a particular letter, such as the Paragraph symbol and P or the $ sign and S.

A Frustrating Task Made Simple!

Have you ever tried to get your data OFF your phone?

IT'S LIKE THE PHONE IS TRYING TO TRAP IT INSIDE!

Not only is it a pain to have to connect your phone to your PC just to transfer, finding the files is just as bad!

(And let's not get into hoping your computer recognizes what you're trying to DO with your phone, instead of just trying to update or charge it)

You can't even transfer over WiFi without paying for an app!

THAT'S RIDICULOUS!

Check THIS out!

It works on computers.

It works on Android phones.

It even works on Android TABLETS!

Plug it in. Save your data. Transfer it ANYWHERE!

No cords, no weird software, no hunting for files... just save your pictures to the flash drive & plug it into your PC!

THAT'S IT!

The genius is in the simple design! It's a standard USB connector on one end, and a micro-USB connector on the other!

(Everyone in the world just went "Oh man, I should've thought of that!")

If you've ever used a card reader for your memory cards because you were tired of hooking your camera up to your computer... this is kinda like that, except even BETTER!

It's just like a flash drive!

That means it's simple, fast, and AWESOME! All you have to do is plug it in to the device you're using and move the files onto it!

Now you can finally get all your photos and videos off your phone to share them on your computer!

But this isn't a one-way street!

If you're trying to get music, or maybe a movie on your phone or tablet? It's JUST as easy!

Simply plug this flash drive into your computer, drag the files into it, and then connect it to your mobile device!

BAM! INSTANT ACCESS TO THE FILES YOU WANTED!

I can't tell you how excited I am about this! I absolutely HATED data transfers between my mobile devices and my computer. It was ALWAYS a pain... not anymore!

Absolutely!

If you don't need to transfer some data right now, you can use it as extra storage! But it STILL works with everything for that!

16 extra gigs is a LOT, especially on a smartphone or tablet!

Those devices don't come with a lot of storage... so you're increasing storage by up to 50%!

Squeeze some extra music on your phone even though the internal storage is full! Keep a backup of your PC's most important documents and photos!

This device does EVERYTHING and it makes it look so easy!

Hold Onto Your Jaw...

...because it's about to hit the floor!

These are an AMAZING deal! But check out just how amazing they are!

You could get the 16 GB Model for just $14.97!

That's an ABSURDLY low price... in fact, it's the LOWEST PRICE WE'VE EVER OFFERED FOR THIS FLASH DRIVE!

Make sure you get it quick! These kinda flash drives ALWAYS sell out quick!

http://store.worldstart.com/product/9927

The sale WILL end Wednesday - but it might end sooner if we sell out of these completely!

Joyce from Lake Havasu City, AZ writes:

Is there a way to request e-mail read receipts for windows 7 using alive e-mail?????

Sure Joyce, it only takes a few to set up a receipt in the Windows Live e-mail client. A receipt means that you'll receive an e-mail notifying you that your message has been read by its recipient (assuming that's all right with the person who receives the e-mail. They do have an option to refuse sending the receipt.)

Open your Live Mail inbox and click the drop-down arrow in the upper left.

Choose Options.

Then select Mail.

The Mail Options window will open, choose the Receipts tab.

The select Request a read receipt for all sent messages. This is also where you can choose to either send receipts to others when they request them every time you get an e-mail, never send them or choose to approve it on a case-by-case basis.

Then select OK.

Feds Say AT&T Lied About Unlimited Data Plans

The U.S. Government says AT & T misled millions of consumers with promises of unlimited data plans.

The Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint in federal court against the company, saying it charged smartphone customers for unlimited data plans, all the while reducing their data speeds. According to the complaint, sometimes up to a 90% reduction.

They say the company did not adequately disclose this information to its customers. When customers reach a certain about of data usage during the month on their "unlimited" plans, AT&T sometimes reduces (also known as throttles) the speeds. In fact, the speeds are reduced so drastically that it's difficult to use many apps and impossible to do things like watch a video or web surf.

At the same time, the company was squeezing the amount of data to customers, they ran advertising emphasizing the unlimited amount of data and if customers caught on and cancelled their plans because of throttling, they were hit with hefty fees for early termination of the contract.

The FTC says the practice started in...

Marie from Missoula writes:

Is there a way of setting reply messages in Outlook without the prior received message tagging on? Thanks, I really like your daily helps. A 78- year- old fan.

Ask yourself this question first, Marie. Do you really want to reply to that message or do you just want to contact that person. Hitting reply indicates that your message is in reference to that e-mail. That's why previous exchanges are included, in case you reference something from the message. This way the recipient can see what you're talking about. Some people will use reply because it's convenient and that can cause confusion later when you really

If your intent is just to message the person who sent the e-mail about a different topic, just hit the plus sign next to New in the Outlook inbox.

Then select To and type in a contact or choose someone by scrolling down the list.

Now, if you really intend to reply to the message, but just don't want the clutter, you can delete...

Fix A Tight Crop With Photoshop

In this tip, I'm going to show you how to fix a situation that's probably happened to every wildlife photographer. You think think you've taken an absolutely amazing photograph and you rush home to load it on your computer. You pull up the image and it looks fantastic, the exposure is perfect but wait….Oh, no! You cropped way too close on one side.

You could curse your luck and trash the photo. But I've got a better idea. Sometimes you can actually save that photo.

If you were shooting in high-speed continuous frame advance, you may just have another shot that can save the day. Here's an example of a photo I saved. This is an image I took of a beautiful mule deer buck in a stream in Yellowstone. The original was cropped a little too close to the top. Fortunately, my next image had a bit more space, but the deer wasn't as sharp in that one. I transplanted the top from the not-so-good image to this one and saved the day.

Console Living Room

As soon as I saw this site, I knew I had to write it up! I can't tell you how excited I am! Console Living Room is a part of the Internet Archive. They bring you not only a collection of consoles from video gaming history, but they also allow you to access and play the games design for those consoles in your internet browser!

I can remember my brother getting an Atari when I was a very small child and being fascinated by the games he'd play on the television. Now I can enjoy those same games on my PC through my web browser.

When you arrive to the Console Living Room you'll be treated to a gallery of old consoles. You can learn about them from the blurbs on the right of their images, and click the linked name of the console to learn more about them and get a listing of the cartridges that existed for their system. You can then choose to pick one of those cartridges to play!

Each console will offer you a library of games to pick from. Check out the Atari 2600 for example! Not only do they have the games you can play archived, but they also have noted the other games that they could only record for posterity because they're still under license through their parent companies. This is very helpful to people who are trying to collect whole libraries of console games. I know a few avid gamers who are.

Go check out these games that are a blast from the past today!

One More Big Deal

No Hard Drive Lives Forever...

Hard drives are sensitive, complex mechanical devices. Most modern hard drives can hit over 7200 RPMs!

But it's not without a cost: No matter HOW hard you try, 100% of hard drives will eventually crash.

AND THAT ALMOST ALWAYS SPELLS DISASTER!

What do you do when your hard drive crashes?

Well, there are only two outcomes...

It's gone. Throw your hard drive in the trash and start fresh... because you are NOT recovering that data. A dead hard drive is just that. It's game over.

You take your handy little SanDisk 32GB back up flash drive and put all your saved files on your next computer. With the push of a button!

You don't lose a single file, and you don't spend the weekend wishing you had printed those vacation photos that you'll never get back.

Which one would you prefer?

There's only ONE reason not to back up data: it USED to be hard. It took a lot of time, it took expensive hardware or software, and it took some tech-savvy. You had to know file extensions, directories, the whole works.

NOT ANYMORE! IT JUST GOT AS EASY AS PUSHING ONE BUTTON!

The SanDisk 32GB Instant Backup Flash Drive!

NO software. NO set up. NO time consuming steps. All you do is plug it in and press the button!

Could it BE any easier?

The first time you pop it in, it just asks you what directories you want to backup. After that, every new backup is just a button away.

So you'll know EXACTLY where to find them on the flash drive or after you back them up to another PC!

Think about everything you have on your computer: TONS of photos. ALL of your favorite music. Family videos and contact information.

How about work documents, important files, sensitive documents. Even your passwords, e-mails, favorite web pages... EVERYTHING!

After a crash, you can't get those photos back. The videos are now distant memories. And your passwords? Good luck remembering the ones you haven't had to type in for years.

And with backing up this easy, you won't even have to think about it!

This DEFINES User Friendly!

We tested it out, just check out the video of the identical, but smaller 16GB version:

Ultra Sleek, Ultra Secure, ULTRA FAST!

It looks, feels, and acts just like your standard flash drive (of course, standard flash drives can't hold a candle to this one) so you know it's gonna be easy and lightweight to move or store.

Plus, it has a retractable connector so you ALSO know it's gonna stay safe from any potential accidents!

That's right - Just drag and drop files to it and use it like any other flashdrive! Talk about the best of both worlds!!

Take it anywhere! Back up any PC or laptop! Use it for EVERYTHING!

And if you're looking for fast, this thing is gonna BLOW YOU AWAY!

This flash drive is part of the SanDisk "Ultra" series, their fastest USB 2.0 drives out there.

Last but not least: IT'S SECURE!

When you back up anything on this drive, you can choose to encrypt it and guard it with a password of your choice! Nobody but you or those you trust get access to YOUR files.

So all your tax, financial, and confidential documents? You can back them up too without worrying! FINALLY!

All those passwords on your PC don't mean a thing if you don't have SECURE backups.

But with this SanDisk, it's not a problem.

A Backup Drive For UNDER $21! WOW!

If you go anywhere to try and get a backup drive, you'll be looking $40 for the BARE MINIMUM! And those are bulky, heavy external hard drives that you really can't move or store.

And as a personal note, I kept two of these once we got 'em and I've got my home and work PC backed up on these flash drives. I love them already. They're that good!

You will NOT find a faster, more convenient backup drive out there for just $20.97!

These are simply one of the coolest devices I've ever seen. PLEASE don't miss out on this deal. We only have so many and once they're gone... that's it.

http://store.worldstart.com/product/9976

LIMITED QUANTITY - Again, we can't get any more than the ones we have! And after Wednesday this sale will end, with the price going back up to $27.97! HURRY TO THE STORE!

Nose To Nose

This was captured shortly after I drove into Yellowstone from Gardiner. Normally, expectations tend to be low as you make the 5 mile or so drive from Gardiner to Mammoth, but today would prove an exception to that rule. As I drove along, admiring the freshly fallen snow, I rounded a corner and spotted a group of elk congregating in an area known as the "Chinese Gardens". I wasted no time maneuvering …(More)

Big Sable Lighthouse

Finally got it! This shot was literally 2 years, 5 hikes, and two separate trips in the making – but I was finally – finally - able to pull it off June 2012! Grant and I had been to Ludington State Park the year before and stayed several days in an attempt to get a good shot of the Big Sable Lighthouse – and we failed. ...(More)

Sleeping Bear Stormy Sunset

Talk about a last chance! We had been trying for three days to get something – anything – at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It doesn't seem to be a great morning location, so that left us with just three chances – one for each evening we were there. The first evening saw a sunset that was blocked by clouds, the second was ...(More)

Black Bear On Alert

I really love this black bear! We'd seen him (I think it's a him) a few times in the Cade's Cove area of Smoky Mountain National Park and he never disappointed us. Working with him does require a bit of a "soft touch" since he's always a bit more nervous then most of the other bears in that area. It sure doesn't take much to force...(More)

Owlet Peeking Through The Grass

I love – absolutely LOVE – Burrowing Owls! I don't know that I've ever come across a more photogenic bird. They are amazingly expressive with a dash of cute on the side. This little guy had emerged from his..(More)

Rainbow Falls, Watkins Glen

YES! Finally got it! The first time I saw this waterfall, I was floored. You come around a corner and at first you just see the "auxiliary" falls on the left. Then in the course of just a few excited steps the rest of this amazing scene seems to materialize right in front of you! As the bridge and three tiered falls comes into view, you're literally...(More)
