This Week on MetalSucks...

Monday, December 8th marked the ten year anniversary of Dimebag Darrell's abrupt and untimely death onstage at a Damageplan concert. He was only thirty-eight years old. As one of the most legendary and beloved figures in heavy metal music, his loss still reverberates a decade on. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death, we asked several prominent heavy metal musicians to share their favorite Dime riffs and solos, as well as general memories of the legend, including members of Anthrax, Machine Head, Revocation, Havok, Gwar and more. Read all of their tributes here

Speaking of Gods, some of them are the catalysts for super-cool concert protests, like the anti-Gwar protest of last month. Pretty goddamn obnoxious, ain't it? Let Spectre Studios head honco and one of our favorite video bloggers, Mr. Glenn Fricker, tell you how to deal with these peons.

While we've got your ear, why don't you subscribe to the MetalSucks podcast? Eh now? You want to be on The MetalSucks Podcast? Done! Record a question here, and hosts Chuck & Godless will select one inquiry each week on which to wax philsopical.

This 9-String Metal Song Actually Uses all 9 Strings

The quest to see how many strings can fit on a guitar has become quite the dick measuring contest. Even George Washington once said, "If you've got nine strings, play nine strings." Our favorite Internet Guitar Guy Rob Scallon took the General's advice and composed and laid down a nine string burner, just for you. Turn it up.

Remembering Dimebag Darrell Ten Years Later: Machine Head’s Robb Flynn

Rob Flynn of Machine Head and Dimebag Darrell went way back, and Rob had plenty to say about his former tourmate on the 10th anniversary of Dimebag's tragic death. Our favorite pull quote, "He killed it live, KILLED IT, and every one of those drinking stories you heard about him were true — the dude’s liver was in-fucking-human!"

Slipknot Guitarist Says the Band Has Never Made “a Penny” from Record Sales

It's pretty clear at this point no one should be getting into the music business (especially not the metal music business) to get rich. But Slipknot have sold more than 5 million albums in the U.S. and 20 million worldwide. Surely that's earned them a bit of coin for their retirement funds, yes? Guitarist Jim Root says the Knot has never seen a penny based off record sales. Haaaaawhat?
