GOODBYE
AND HELLO

This has been a great year, that ended on a sad note.

It's with the greatest sorrow to tell you that our wonderful, loving puppy dog, Poppy, passed away suddenly on Christmas Day. It's been a very hard blow for Joseph and me, and we will always miss her and mourn her. She was such a big part of our lives; she was a part of our and the OffBeat family and was much loved by all. We were lucky to have had her big personality and unconditional love and sweetness for the time that we did. She was our baby and we'll miss her forever. All you animal lovers will understand...

A new year is upon us, always a good reason to celebrate and to turn over a new leaf. Some great things have happened in music this year, particularly in the areas of music education. But music is still be challenged by the "haves" who want to turn the French Quarter into their own private gated community, and we missed a great opportunity to establish plans for a music museum in an iconic site.

But we can still hope, can't we? That's what the new year is all about...
