The first criteria for taking a question is Do we have enough information to answer it? Sometimes we get questions like "What programs work with my computer?" with no indication of the computer, operating system or programs. The next step will be to find out if any of our writers have the answer to that question. Sometimes we just can't duplicate an issue. Also, if we get 5 questions on the same topic, we'll pick one question to represent all of the readers. If we have recently published an article on the same topic, we probably won't answer that question again in the newsletter. Make sure you search WorldStart.com to see if your question has already been answered recently. ~ Cynthia Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version

Bill says, I use Outlook and for the most part, I am very satisfied with it. However, I have one problem with it that I can't resolve on my own. My contacts never go away. Even though I remove them from my contacts listing, they are still there. They no longer appear in my contact listings, but appear when I attempt to send an email. For example: When I begin typing an email address beginning with a letter, a number of possible email addresses pop up. Some of these contain emails for people that I removed years ago. How do I permanently remove these names? I have outlook.com not Outlook. Hi Bill, We did an article about removing old auto-complete entries in Outlook, but these steps do not work on Outlook.com. Here's the way to remove auto-complete entries on outlook.com: Click on the gear icon at the top right of outlook.com, then click on Options. From there, click on Advanced Privacy Settings under Customizing Outlook.com.
On the next screen, mark the box that says Only suggest people in my contact list. Hit save. Then go back to the settings and change it back to Give suggestions for anyone I've communicated with. A reboot may be required between the two steps.
That should erase the auto-complete settings, and you'll no longer have the old addresses showing up when you go to send an email. ~ Audra Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Ask it here!
Ronald from California says, I have a printer problem. i wrote a question to the internet and received an answer but fail to understand it. can you translate for me? thanks. "Question: Answer: Otherwise the computers will not find it at the address that it had when it was installed for them if it changes addresses. The same is true for other network infrastructure, like wireless access points." Hi Ronald, Every device on a network must have an address, and it must be a unique address to that network.
therwise, there are conflicts and devices don't work. When you set up a wireless printer, it must have an IP address. Often time, when you set up the printer, you tell your wireless router to give it an IP. When this happens, every time it is turned off and back on, it could be getting a different address assigned from the router. If this happens, the laptop will not ... Want more? Head on over to WorldStart! Which Memory Card Should I Buy? Almost every electronic device you buy today requires a memory card. But which one should you buy for your device? For the most part, almost all devices tend to use either an SD card, or a microSD card. There are a few other options, such as CompactFlash, Memory Sticks, and xD Photo cards, but SD cards have, in general, taken over the majority of the market. As such, I will only be talking about SD and microSD cards.
In looking at SD (Secure Digital) cards, the first thing to realize is there are two (actually three, but one is not used anymore) sizes. There is the standard size, which is larger and typically used in cameras, camcorders, and some older mobile phones. There is also a smaller microSD card, which is typically found in mobile phones, MP3 players, and tablets. You can easily tell which your device will use by the... Don't Repost This Facebook Fraud I've seen this pop up in my Facebook feed dozens of times over the past few days.
It claims that "Channel 13 News" said that you can change you Facebook privacy policy by posting this notice to your wall and that you must post the notice to the wall to ensure your privacy. As with all posts that claim you can somehow make some type of legal notification with a Facebook post, it is 100% untrue and a complete waste of your time. TV stations with the channel 13 designation from all over the country are posting denials like these online.
You cannot make any changes to your terms of service with Facebook by posting something on you Facebook wall. In fact, you can't modify those terms of service at all, except by choosing... picVpic Welcome to picVpic an awesome site that lets you comparison shop for fashion by browsing products side by side! When you arrive at the site, you'll notice by default it's set to the Women's category, you can easily flip it to Menswear by clicking the Men button near the bottom. Once you've selected your avatar (male or female) you can use the categories on the side to start shopping for the article of clothing you're looking for. I tried out the Dress and Tops categories, because I'm always looking to fill spots in my wardrobe there. Notice that they offer you a tip at the top of the page, and then a bevy of options. So if you were in the Top section, you'd learn about it and then have a selection of shirts to pick from. When you click on one it will bring that item up: you'll get an enlarged photo on the left of the popup, the price at the top right of the pop up, and all the product details. Notice that if you mouse over the photo a circle appears, you can drag the photo there to save it to your short list (for easy comparison) or add it to collection for future reference. You can also drag the image thumbnails to either side of the page (left for collection, right for short list). In order to use the Collection feature you need to register for an account. You can sign in with your Facebook or Twitter account, or use the Sign Up button to register with your e-mail address. This lets you save your collection. There's also a handy menu along the top of the page that houses different categories you can use and a Fashion 101 section. This site offers a really cool way to shop! Go check it out today! ~Amanda Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?Send it to Amanda at amanda@worldstart.com
You Know Murphy's Law, Right? If it can go wrong, it WILL go wrong. And that possibility is ALWAYS doubled when you're talking about expensive electronics! Phones, cameras, and ESPECIALLY GPS units! You might think you don't need a GPS case. But without one, it only takes ONE slip before that thing is DEAD! It might help you go on trips, but you don't want to give it a "trip" to the trash after it breaks! That's a big ouch. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!
It's a 3.5" case that fits most standard GPS units! With a hard-shelled exterior, no bumps or scrapes are gonna get to YOUR GPS device! After all, what good is a GPS if scratches and scrapes have damaged the screen beyond usability? Speaking of - normal hard cases might be hard EVERYWHERE! That completely defeats the purpose! Sure, your GPS won't bang into the cement floor... but it's banging into the hard interior of the case ON the cement floor!
You gotta put your GPS away when you aren't traveling anyway (visible GPS units are the #1 reason people break into cars!) so you NEED a safe place to put it when you do! There's even a mesh pocket inside to help sort the stuff you're storin'! (To be honest, when ya got a 3.5" case like this, you can store pretty much anything in there! Stop usin' flimsy pouches that don't ACTUALLY protect your stuff!) This is the BEST way to store your GPS! AND WE'VE GOT THESE FOR ONLY $4.97! Isn't $4.97 worth saving your $100+ GPS from irrepairable damage? http://store.worldstart.com/product/10162 Don't wait, the sale ends Tuesday and these go back to $7.97
