I Made It: New Music From Diamond Rio 25 Years Later

Posted: 18 Sep 2015 06:00 PM PDT

The band that plays together stays together…known as one of the first country bands to play on every one of their studio projects, Diamond Rio made country music history when their first Arista Nashville single, "Meet In The Middle" landed them in the #1 spot.

Now, 25 years later, Diamond Rio, is releasing "I Made It", their tenth studio album. The title track was co-written by the band's lead guitarist Jimmy Olander and features 11 new songs.  Produced by Olander and Michael D Clute, "I Made It", is available today Friday, September 18 at iTunes and through Rio Hot Records at diamondrio.com.

"I Made It" is the follow-up to their 2014 first-ever live album release, "Diamond Rio Live".  And to celebrate the release for a limited time, fans can receive a FREE MP3 of the title track, "I Made It" by visiting www.diamondrio.com.

As artists producing music as long as Diamond Rio has, fresh subject matter tends to get more and more difficult to come by," says Jimmy Olander. "As a writer on the title track 'I Made It,' simply telling our story is freeing. This is a very specific story, the autobiographical melding of the migration stories my partners and I share about moving to Nashville.  Collectively, we have achieved the amount of success that dreams are made of, but at the end of the day have learned having someone to share this amazing life with – 'love' and 'be loved by' is the real measure of success. It’s true, 'I Made It.'"

We’ve always had a sense of excitement when a new CD was being released. However, since this is our first 'new music’ from Diamond Rio in many years, it almost feels like it did when our very first record came out 25 years ago. At least for me, there is some nervous tension anticipating what our new and long-time fans think about it." Brian Prout concludes saying, "We are proud of this CD and we hope that our fans will enjoy listening to it as much as we did recording it."

"Findin' My Way Back Home"
"If You're Willing"

We were fortunate to not be rushed with this project,” shares Gene Johnson. “Over the past few years we’ve taken the time to work on several projects that were on our bucket list; a Christmas album and our first-ever Christian and live albums.” Dan Truman further explains, “Instead of cutting the album in a 2 week period, or 2 month period we’d cut a few songs every year. What that allowed us to do is be very selective about what we cut and to take the time to live with these songs, making the proper edits and decisions.” Marty Roe and Dana Williams both agree that, collectively, this may be the best group of songs the band has ever recorded.

Inside The Outsiders: Eric Church Exhibit Opens Today

Posted: 18 Sep 2015 11:50 AM PDT

Today marks the beginning of the exhibit that will explore the life and career of Eric Church. Featuring stage wear, guitars, song manuscripts, photos and more from his personal collection, the "Talladega" singer respectfully acknowledges that the exhibit or any of his other achievements would not have been made possible without the support of so many of his family, friends and fans.

It's not about me, because it's not possible for one person to make that happen," Church adds. "I can't say how proud I am. I can't say how much I love each and every one of you. I'm blown away by where we are and by where we came from. It really took everybody pulling on the rope at the same time."

Church has reaped the rewards of chart success with hits such as "Springsteen" and "Talladega," platinum albums Chief and The Outsiders, and CMA and ACM awards, while maintaining an authenticity that resonates deeply with his audience. His country-rock hybrid incorporates influences ranging from Merle Haggard to Metallica, and reflects the determination of many of today's top country artists to break down genre barriers. Behind his aviator shades, Church believes that, “music is universal; it speaks to people’s souls on the deepest level. It’s all just music."

Eric Church is an independent-minded artist with an uncompromising attitude that is rare in contemporary country music," said museum CEO Kyle Young. "His insistence on doing things his way recalls Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr. We are thrilled to share his story in our latest exhibition."

The display, which runs now through February of 2016, includes Church's first guitar, a handwritten note from George Strait, a pair of Church's trademark aviator sunglasses, various awards and much, much more.

I have a distinct memory, when I was 23, walking by the Country Music Hall of Fame. And I remember just having a moment," Church recalls. "As a songwriter that had been told 'no' a bunch, if I had the chance, if I had a time machine, I'd go back and tell that guy what would happen over the next 10, 15 years, [and] neither one of us would believe it."

Church christened Nashville's new outdoor Ascend Amphitheater on July 30th and 31st, making a rare second stop in Music City this year to perform two sold-out acoustic solo sets. He set a venue record in January when 18,411 fans crammed into Bridgestone Arena to catch The Outsiders World Tour, which is nearing one million tickets sold, has set five venue attendance records, and was ranked #1 on Billboard's Hot Tours recap in April.

The Country Music Hall of Fame is located at 222 5th Ave. S. in Nashville. More information about Eric Church: Inside the Outsider, is available on the museum's website.
